Tuesday, May 12th was Lag Ba'omer, which means it was also time for SCY High's Field Day. Students were divided up into two teams and then competed in a variety of events which tested their knowledge (Academic Jeopardy!), fine motor skills (Darts), hand-eye coordination (Egg Toss), and athleticism (everything else). Although the boys enjoyed all of the activities, the highlight of the day was definitely the never-ending football game with White Team's miraculous comeback.
Aside from the competition, there were a lot of other things going on at SCY HIgh that day. Rabbi Goren spoke to the boys about the spiritual side of the day. Additionally, the boys enjoyed a barbecue at Mission Bay in honor of the day. Finally, the day concluded with a spirited soccer game between SCY High's present and its future - the seventh and eighth grade boys at Soille. While for the moment the present is stronger, we were happy to see that the future holds a lot of promise. Thank you to the Dereys for their help with the food for the barbecue, to the Silvermans for their help with the grill and other Field Day paraphernalia, and to our amazing staff for putting together what one student called the best Field Day in SCY High History! |

Our students aren't really angry; they're actually very nice. However, they are good actors, and they are almost ready to perform "Twelve Angry Men."
The show, presented by SCY High Theater teacher, Wade Denes and the 10th and 12th grade Theater class, will take place Tuesday, May 19th at 6:30 PM at SCY High, 3410 Mt. Acadia Blvd. This production is SCY High's first-ever full-length play production, and it is a great opportunity to see our boys in action. All are invited and admission is free. Anyone who is available is invited to join us for a "bring your own dinner and shmooze" picnic starting at 5:45 followed by the show. Looking forward to seeing you there! |
